Welcome to our “Fleet Connections” video series! We recently had the pleasure of sitting down with some of our customers and asking them questions about important industry topics, what fleet management technologies they are using and what it’s like to work with Qualcomm. Over the next couple months, we’ll feature a new customer testimonial video every Wednesday, so please make sure you check back each week to listen to what your industry colleagues have to say!
In honor of Driver Appreciation Week, we wanted to share a story from Dupré Logistics on how they leverage fleet management technology to keep their drivers happy. In our first “Fleet Connections” video, Al LaCombe, director of safety, training and logistics for Dupré Logistics, talks about the challenges he faced when transitioning from “old school” paper logs to electronic on-board recorders (EOBRs). While resistant at first, drivers’ sentiment turned 180 degrees after they realized the benefits of EOBRs. One driver exclaimed, “I’m refusing, I’m not going back on paper logs.”
Today, Dupré is testing Qualcomm’s In-Cab Scanning application to further enhance their drivers’ productivity. Removing the need to travel out-of-route to scan critical trip documents at terminals, drivers can now easily scan documents from inside their cab. Calling the newest application “slick,” Al is receiving tremendous interest from his drivers to deploy this solution to more trucks.
For Dupré it costs an estimated $7,000 to hire and train a new driver, so fleet management technology has helped Dupré Logistics enhance their driver relations and retention as demonstrated in Al’s testimonial.
Have you found that technology can help your fleet retain drivers? If so, how have your drivers responded? Has it helped with your retention rates? We’d love to hear from you!
